Open source that protects users and sustains development
InfiniQuest's core is and always will be free and open source.
This ensures InfiniQuest can never be locked away in a proprietary product.
All users must follow our ethical guidelines - no exceptions, no matter how much you pay.
For the safety of families and children, InfiniQuest has specific deployment restrictions.
We can't verify the security of third-party public services, so we keep it local or official.
Organizations with >$250K annual revenue that use InfiniQuest commercially are asked to contribute to sustainability.
Think of it as successful organizations helping maintain the commons that enabled their success.
We chose this four-part approach to balance several important goals:
This isn't just about code - it's about building technology that serves humanity instead of exploiting it.
Yes! InfiniQuest is completely free for personal and family use. No hidden costs, no premium features locked away.
If your annual revenue is under $250K, you can use InfiniQuest for free under the AGPL + Ethical licenses. Just remember to share any improvements back to the community.
Companies over $250K revenue using InfiniQuest commercially should contribute to support development. This helps keep the project sustainable and free for everyone else. Contact [email protected] to discuss.
Yes! You can fork and modify InfiniQuest. You just can't use our name, must follow the ethical requirements, and must share your improvements (AGPL). If you're a large organization, you may need a success contribution license.
Educational institutions and registered nonprofits are exempt from success contribution requirements, regardless of size. We want to support organizations doing good in the world.
Many projects claim to be "open source" but use restrictive licenses or have a "bait and switch" model. InfiniQuest is truly open (AGPL), with ethical guardrails to prevent misuse, and a transparent sustainability model where only successful commercial users contribute.
We're happy to explain our licensing approach and how it might apply to your situation.
